In an effort to help you leverage social networking, we have made it easier for campaigns to spread.  Here’s the skinny in 3 steps.

#1)  Choose a campaign and set it up. Go to the “Campaigns” section and choose any campaign you wish to promote.  Notice the new share buttons for Facebook and Twitter.  Be sure to set the following properties of the campaign:

  • Description – This is a new one.  Write something to get the attention of potential participants. This is used to pre-fill the post to facebook or twitter.
  • Comboword – If you choose a comboword it will be automatically accounted for in the post.
  • Limit – If you choose a limit it will be shown to anyone who clicks on the post.

#2) Choose a network. Clicking on a share button will take you to the appropriate form for posting to the network. Note that you can edit what the text will say on the post at this moment.

#3)  Your campaign is now on the network. Your campaign can now be liked, retweeted, reposted etc. If people follow the  link they will see the details of your campaign.

… and so do my vendors.” says Brian Byerly of Crystal Rose in Colorado. What exactly do the brides love? The text message marketing that Crystal Rose rolled out earlier this year has helped keep brides informed as well as given them a way to get information texted to them whenever they want.

Here’s how it works:

Brides send a text message  opting to receive texts from Crystal Rose, then:

  • They are automatically sent text messages designed to keep them up to speed on their wedding process, what is being done and needs to be done, concerning their wedding. The wedding date determines when text messages are sent to the bride.
  • Brides are also given a “text message menu” that lets them choose information to be sent a-la-cart to their phone whenever they want. From florists to ministers, it’s all there for them!
  • They are also able to send their wedding planner free-form messages with any questions or comments they have at anytime. This immediately triggers a notification to be sent to Crystal Rose, who can then send them a message right back.

Why the Brides love it! (We asked a couple brides to let us know)

There is actually a groom using the service and he loves it too! Brides love the fact that they can relax knowing that they will be informed about what is going on with their wedding. Lauren, a bride from Denver Colorado said, “It was really nice because I was able to get information I needed texted to me so I always had it with me.”

“I sent text to get information when I was up at 1am thinking about my wedding and decided I wanted to talk to a videographer, i got the list of people they work with texted back to me in seconds.” Carolyn from Greenwood Village tells us when asked her favorite thing about the text program.

Why the vendors love it ( we asked Brian to tell us why)

“First of all I have been contacted by a few of my vendors to ask me why I wasn’t charging for this. I told them I had to make sure you would love it first, thanks for the call! These brides are asking for recommendations on florists, ministers, invitations, you name it. So this program lets the girls get it sent to them as a text. Then they are just walking around with my vendors contact info. When they want to talk to them, they just go in their phone.

What about the other ways you tell your brides about your vendors? (we asked Brian)

“It’s still there, they can still use that but most of my brides are in the age group of texting, they ALL text, so this is easier and more convenient for them. Plus the text program makes this stuff fully trackable, so now I know how much business a certain vendor of mine is getting, and can charge accordingly.”

Give your marketing a personal touch by using the Birthday feature.  This feature keeps you connected with customers regularly on their special date.
One of the best parts of this feature is that it takes minimal effort to maintain it. Just set the message, activate  it. and you’re done.  Note that this feature can be used for other special dates too, like weddings and anniversaries. Just make sure that you have the correct dates for all your customers by following the instructions below.

Here we have listed all the things that we’ve seen to be useful for Auto Service Centers using text message marketing.

Your Car is Ready- Directions on how to set up the message and text your customer when their vehicle is ready to be picked up:

  1. Log into your Duffled account, and click “Campaigns” (on the left)
  2. Then on the right you will see “Create New Campaign”
  3. Name the campaign “Your car is ready” or something that will help you identify it later
  4. Do not enter a combo word
  5. Do not check the box that creates a list
  6. In the message box, type your message. Here is an example “Your Car is ready to be picked up at Example Lube, need a ride to the shop? Call 1-800-555-5555″
  7. Click the “Create” botton…then that message has been created and you will never have to type that again!

When its time to send that message to a customer

  1. Log into your Duffled account and click “Customers” ( on the left)
  2. Find the cusotmer you need by entering all or part of thier name or number in the space provided
  3. When you have found the customer, click the “[add]” button to the right of thier phone number ( you should see that customer appear in the right hand panel)
  4. In the right hand panel, click on “apply a plan or coupon to the customers below”
  5. In the dropdown menu, choose the “your car is ready” coupon
  6. Click “OK”    ……………….Your done!

Service Plans- These are good to remind poeple about when they need to come in to get certain services done. Here is an example of an oil change campaign and instuructons on how to make it.

  1. Log into your Duffled account and click “Campaigns” (on the left)
  2. On the right you will see “Create New Campaign”. Name the campaign ( this is only for you to see and reference)
  3. click the blue “+attach a combo word” and type in a combo word
  4. Its optional to click the box thats creates a list.
  5. then click “create”
  6. Now its time to add your messages, on the right click “Click here to add a new message to this campaign”
  7. Type your message in the box provided
  8. Then choose how long to wait (if at all) to send the message after its requested
  9. Click “add message”……………
  10. Repeat steps 6-9 for all messages you want to add……then your done

Text Message Menu- This is a great way to promote your program. A text message menu is a sheet of paper with all the Keyword Combos that they can text in for whatever reason. Here is an example ( its not live so do not actually text these :)

Getting your oil changed?- Text “Example Oil” to 39970 to get a text reminder when its time to get your oil changed again.

Want to learn more about your car?- Text “Example Facts” to 39970 to get monthly facts about car care sent to your phone.

Getting your tires rotated?- Text “Example Tire” to 39970 and recieve a reminder on your cell phone when its time again.

You can put all of the different lists, plans, and coupons you have created on this menu.

You just signed up and have brand new account. It’s time to start growing your database. Growing your database is BY FAR the hardest yet most important part of creating a successful text program. You are asking people to give you access to a very personal space, so you must be clear, short, and fully transparent. More clients means more opportunities, so it’s well worth the effort.

Below are all the things you should be doing to build your database:

SIGNS

Put up signs telling people about the program and how they can participate. Your signs should be clear, eye-catching, and strategically placed. Placing signs at points-of-sale, waiting areas, and tables is usually a good bet. The more signs you have, the better. Here are some examples:

WEBSITE

If you have a website, use it to tell people how to join your program. You can simply tell people using a catchy graphic, or embed Duffled flash widgets to help people join. Let people know about what keyword combos they can text to join special lists or receive coupons you have created. It’s as simple as putting it on your site. Some people make their own special eye-catching graphics , while others have made videos to promote their text message program. The point is simply to PROMOTE IT!

KNOW IT, TALK ABOUT IT

You and ALL of your employees should know both your keyword and the number 39970. If you are excited about your own program, and talk about it with excitement, others will be excited about the program as well. You need to teach people how to join your text program. What do people need to text? (your keyword) What number do they text it to? (39970) How do you know if they did it right? (confirmation message) What if they want to get off after they join? (reply with STOP) Does this cost money? (No. Standard rates apply). You should know this information VERY well and be able to talk to your customers about it. Your employees should also know this information well.

EMAIL

Do you already have a way to reach people via email? Leverage this communication channel to grow your database. It is as simple as sending out an email telling people to text your keyword to 39970. Again, you can also tell people what keyword combos they can text in to join certain lists or receive coupons.

HAVE A LIST OF NUMBERS ALREADY?

If you already have a list of numbers you may be able to leverage this in growing your database. If you can contact the numbers en masse then you may simply tell them to text your keyword to 39970 and they will be added to your database. If you simply have a list of numbers, we offer a service to ingest these numbers for you. Contact us from within your account to learn more about this option.

CONTESTS

Offering customers a chance to win something via a contest is a surefire way to get them to opt into your text program. Look for contest ideas soon!

Here is an idea that is very easy to implement. When one of our clients started doing it, it not only excited participating customers but also got more customers to start participating in their mobile program.

It’s as easy as sending out a text message to your customers that reads something like this:

Are you the mystery customer today? Visit Example Biz today and see! If your cell # matches our mystery # then ProductX is FREE!

You would then need to display the mystery customer(s) at your location(s). Here is an example from a Duffled client who pulled it off well:
